Mahavirsinh is a renowned Pagdi maker of Bhuj, Gujarat. He owns a famous shop named Kutch Darbar in Bhuj. They specialize in traditional clothes and accessories. He had started his business with the aim of preserving his tradition and custom through the dresses and accessories used by their ancestors. ‘Kutch Darbar’ is named after their caste as his ancestors were known as Darbar out of respect by the people.

Pagdi Making

Kutch Darbar is famous for its Pagdi and the traditional dresses that they sell. They have a number of varieties in pagdi available with them. The cloth used to prepare a pagdi is called bandhani which is the specialty of Gujarat. A 9m long cloth is taken which is then held by two people and is twisted. The twisted cloth is then molded in the shape of the pagdi.
